We Day!

A few days ago I went to We Day which is a huge event for youth with speakers and performers. We Day is meant to inspire youth to help fundraise for the organization Free The Children and make a difference in the world. I had a great time so I thought I'd share a video of a few good clips I got through out the day. Sorry there a bit blurry but I wasn't very close to the stage.

Pepsi And Packaging

I don't like Pepsi so I don't really like the flavour of this balm but I think the packaging is pretty cool. This moisturizes really well and gives your lips a bit of a glow. As I said before, it's flavoured Pepsi but it's specifically flavoured Pepsi Wild Cherry. I'm pretty sure this is from Claire's which always has cool flavoured lip products.

Literature From A Lip Gloss Lover Part 2

This is part 2 of my 2 part book review series. The theme of books for this post is science fiction and fantasy.

The book Numbers by Rachel Ward is about a teenage girl who can see the day people are going to die when she looks in their eyes and the struggles that come with that power. I'd give it 3 stars because I loved the plot of the book but sometimes it was sorta boring.

The other book is Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins which is the third and final book in the Hunger Game series. This book is so good! I read it in only 3 days 'cause I just didn't want to put it down. I'm not going to explain the plot 'cause that's what they make us do in school (they're like write the summary in your own words) so just check it out here. I would give this book 5 stars so if you're looking for something to read you should definitely read this series. It's so good that they're making a movie that comes out in March.

Red And Crackling

I've heard a lot about these crackle nail polishes and today I finally tried them out. My little sister wants to dress up as a vampire for Halloween so she got some crackle nail polish. She was gonna get black but there wasn't any at Shoppers so she just got the red. My sister never normally wears nail polish so after Halloween it's officially mine. I decided to test it out for her before then though and I think it's so cool.

This crackle nail polish is Nicole by O.P.I and is part of their Texture line. It isn't marketed as crackle but it's the same thing. Normally Nicole has really cool names for their colours but this one is just called Red Texture.

First I applied the silver colour Positive Energy and then after it dried I applied the texture coat. It's an easy way to get a great looking nail but you have to remember to put the texture on without overlapping it 'cause then it doesn't work as well.

P.S. I took all these pictures with wet nails and didn't chip them.

Literature From A Lip Gloss Lover Part 1

I love to read so I thought I'd do a book review post of some books I read over the summer. This is only part 1 because most of these books are chiclit and I plan do to a part 2 about more action books.
(I got the pictures from some other sites but I decided to edit them to make them more interesting).

(The picture of The Lying Game is from here and the picture of Wanted
is from here.)
These 2 books are both written by Sara Shepard and are both murder mysteries with a very modern view. Wanted is the final book in the Pretty Little Liars series which is about 4 teenage girls figuring out who murdered their best friend. I loved it so much 'cause it has such a surprising twist at the end. The Lying Game is a lot like the Pretty Little Liars series. It's about the struggle of a girl whose twin was murdered. These books seem like they might not really be for teens but even though they're about murders they're both told through the eyes of a typical teen. I'd give both of these books 4 stars.

(The picture of the book is from here)

Another great book (it really is great) is Gimmeacall by Sarah Mlynowski which is about a girl who gets a phone call from herself in the future. It's really hard to explain any more than that but if you want to read the actual summary you can click here. I'd give this book 4 and a half stars.

Hope you enjoyed these book reviews. Stay tuned for part 2.

Go Bananas

I actually got this lip gloss as a prize at an arcade so at first I didn't really think it was going to be that good but it actually is. It has a lot of shine, a bit of sparkle, and a great scent. It's made by Time & Again and is in the flavour Go Bananas. My favourite part of this gloss is the flavour because it really does smells like a banana popsicle.

Don't You Love Acne (I Say Sarcastically)

This Vichy Laboratories Norma Derm is alright. It's supposed to cover up acne and treat it at the same time. It doesn't exactly match my skin tone so I apply a bit on the pimple and around it, rub it in, and repeat a few times. This makes it look more natural. When I do use it I don't find that it really helps clear the acne but at least it covers. I've actually also used this to try and cover up dark circles under my eyes. It surprisingly worked but I don't think it's meant for that so I don't do it often 'cause I don't want to end up with a rash or something unpleasant of the sort around my eyes.

P.S I'm wearing the nail polish "Show Your Care" Nicole by O.P.I.

Lip Gloss Wish List

I haven't purchased a lip gloss in a while but there are a few I'd like but since I don't feel like buying them I made a wish list. I found some info about each gloss in the ads and online so I'm considering this the lip gloss post of the week.

I know it doesn't look the greatest 'cause I wanted to scan it but I don't have a scanner so I just used my camera and I also sat on it by accident (oops).

Old Looking Things Are Cool

I've been in love with key necklaces for almost 2 years now and finally I've been given the chance to make my own. My aunt got a whole key ring of keys from a random antique store and gave me a few so I could make a necklace. I bought the chain from Michaels but I should have checked if it had a clasp 'cause when I got home I had to attach a clasp myself. I think it turned out great. Here are some pictures that I edited by using Instagram.

Vogue Is Cooler Than Textbooks

So school has officially started! It's now the season of textbooks but it's also Fashion Week. I don't live in New York and even if I did I couldn't get into the shows. I can always watch it online and pretend I was actually there. Fashion brings me to Vogue the ultimate fashion magazine which I just got the September issue of and boy, is it huge. It has 758 pages in it although I assume quite a lot of them are adds.
It's so much cooler than reading a textbook.

P.S In case you care, the bag that I used in these photos is a messenger bag from American Eagle.

Testing It Out

While browsing in the Body Shop I was offered a sample of my choice. So duh it's free beauty stuff so I said sure and got a mini container of their Aloe Toner.

The first time I tried it I found all it did was make my problem areas sorta red for about 15 minutes. Then I was left with the feeling that my face was sticky. Not the I just smeared honey on my face sticky but more like my moisturizer never absorbed sticky. The second time I used it though it gave my face a nice pore tightening feeling.  I don't have any product left now so I'm still not sure if it's worth buying but it was fun testing it out.

The Price Is Right

This lip balm smells so good, has vitamins C and E, gives shine, and moisturizes. Guess where it's from, Dollerama. My mom bought it just to go in the car and now we both really like it. It's from Dollerama but is the brand Jenere.  It doesn't really seem like a balm that would be from a dollar store but good things don't always have to be expensive.

A Weekend In Paris (sigh)

I dream of going to Paris, so anytime I see something related to it like an Eifel Tower necklace or a shirt that says J'<3 Paris I really want to get it.

I was shopping at Michaels and I came across all of these really cute posters with shoes, dresses, and Paris realated item on them. I ended up getting one that said a "Weekend in Paris" from the Kathy Hatch Collection.
(This is the poster I own but the pic is from here.)

J'aime mon affich beaucoup! That means I love my poster a lot (thanks Google Translate).

What's In My School Bag

This is a "What's In My School Bag" video. I haven't started school yet so I don't have much in my bag but I'm sure there will be tons of stuff in it in a week. Hope you like it.

I used the song Enchanted by the amazing Taylor Swift. This song actually inspired her new perfume called Wonderstruck which is coming out in October. Take a look at a picture from the campaign.

Isn't that SO pretty!

Working For A While

Spectro Acne Care Vanishing Lotion For Sensitive Skin was the first skin care product I ever bought and I have now been using it for quite a while. It comes out as a white cream and then when you rub it on with your fingers it absorbs. I've found that you have to rub it in really well or else it leaves white marks on your face. It says you should apply it twice daily but I only apply it once before bed after I wash my face. This cream contains benzoyl peroxide which kills acne pimples and can also be worn under make up. I think that it works pretty well, it doesn't work right away but I think if you have problem spots and you apply it regularly it will definitely help clear and prevent acne.

When I first bought this cream I was looking for something to cover up my acne (which this cream does not do) but I guess it worked out because this helped get rid of my acne so I don't have to cover it up.
