My Favourite Products In 2012

These are my favourite beauty products from 2012! Most of them were released in previous years, so these are just products that I've really loved through out this year.
From left to right the products are Essie's Turquoise and Caicos, Revlon's Bold Sangria, a Revlon lip butter in Berry Smoothie, an EOS lip balm in Honey Suckle, Urban Decay's eyeliner in Zero, Fresh's lip balm in Sugar, a YSL mascara, and The Body Shops, Aloe Eye Defense.
These are all great products that actually do what they claim they to! I feel like all products should meet that requirement sadly not all do, but these ones definitely do.

Happy New Year's!

New Year's Eve Nails

I'm pretty sure I've had my nails painted red for the past few weeks, so although red nails might be a good choice for New Year's I think this colour is even better. I feel like it's a bit more unique than silver of gold but still incorporates that beautiful shiny effect. This is Essie's Aruba Blue but almost every other nail polish brand  has a colour like this in their collection. This nail polish made me love Essie nail polishes even more. I could have just used one coat and it went on so smoothly. That kind of surprised me because some times their nail polishes are sticky. So when we enter into 2013 I'll be entering with this pretty polish applied.

Nail Art Ideas & Decals

(Images from Lockerz.com)

I love nail art! Not that I can accomplish it but I think it looks super cool. These are some looks that I would definitely love on my nails! I'm always keeping my eyes out for nail decals, below are some that I've found.

1. An Etsy store called Made By Munchie's Mama they have neat decals for a really good price.

2. Another Etsy store called Inspired Nails.

3. Sally Hansen's nail strips which have a wide variety.

Pretty Petal Pedi

I got my first pedi! Is that really weird that I've never gotten one until now? Well any way, I love it! I got the purplish blue colour by China Glaze and my friend got a glitter polish on top of a pink polish both by O.P.I. I think flower detailing on our big toes looks amazing. Conclusion: I see many pedis in my future.

Flowers & A Pink Manicure

These are pictures of my friends manicure from 4 months ago that I finally decided to post. I love the flower, it reminds me of Hawaii and those tropical patterned tops (if that makes sense). I don't know the name of the polish but it's O.P.I and I think it's the perfect manicure for Summer.

I See Why

This nail polish called "Turquoise and Caicos" is very talked about and I see why. It's a beautiful combination of teal, mint, and baby blue. It took two coats to become opaque and lasted for about four days before becoming really chipped. I think it's a perfect colour for summer and I plan to be wearing it a lot.

By the way, this will be my last nail polish post for a while.

Essie's Sand Tropez

I got this nail polish to match a pair of flats and it matches perfectly! It's a very neutral colour which is great for layering under a glitter polish or for a really simple nail look. I've decided that I only want to buy Essie nail polishes for a little while because I love all of their colours and want to expand my collection. Especially because they look great lined up in a row on my vanity!

I know I've been doing a lot of nail polish posts lately but there's only one more to go.

2 Coats The Charm

This is Revlon's Colorstay Longwear Nail Polish in the colour Bold Sangria. This nail polish is opaque with two coats and with two coats it becomes a very dark purple bordering on black. It took a while to dry but not any longer than any other nail polish. I've only had it on for a day so I don't know how long it lasts but I'll update this post when I know.

Pastel Marble Nail Tutorial

This is my tutorial on how achieve marble nails.

This time around it didn't work but I did the same thing when I tried it before and got great results.

I Finally Did Nail Art!

(Try to ignore the weird discolouration on my thumb.)

I finally did it, I accomplished nail art! I'm aware it looks really simple but it was quite complicated. So I based it off this nail tutorial on YouTube (click here if you want to watch). I first applied Sally Hansen's Lacey Lilac then with a Q-Tip I applied Nicole by O.P.I's Positive Energy. To finish it off I applied a top coat by Sula. I also came to a conclusion that before you start doing nail art make sure you can open the nail polish bottle you want to use next because I couldn't get some open so I had to change which colour I was going to use. Then again, maybe that's just my weak self.

Spring Nail Polish

These are some nail polishes that I plan to wear a lot this spring. Here are their names from left to right; Sally Hansen's Lacey Lilac, Revlon's Jaded, Essie's Guchi Muchi Puchi, Nicole by O.P.I.'s Rich In Spirit, and L'oreal's Party Hop. I love the pastel tones excluding the blue one of course. The thing they all have in common is the bright fun effect the spring gives off.

Valentine's Day Fun

Valentine's Day is a week away so here are some Valentine's Day themed items that I think are really cute.
(My favourite has to be the giant gummy bear)

Waiting For Spring

The holidays are over so now the winter blues are in action. To keep in good spirits I've been looking at these really pretty nail polishes from Essie's spring collection. The image is from fashionista.com. Right now I adore all of these spring colours but my favourite is the peachy nude colour.

Sophisticated

I really like this Essie's nail polish in the colour Glamour Purse. It makes me feel sophisticated because it's quite a neutral colour. After I applied 2 coats I found it was a grey and brown colour which happened to be a nice combination.

No Snowflake Is Like The Other

I watched this snowflake nail tutorial on YouTube and I thought it looked so cool. It was on the beauty guru's channel Macbarbie07. I decided to try it out.

It doesn't look amazing but I think it still looks pretty cool because realistically no snowflake is the same.

To do this I used the polishs "Teal The Cows Come Home" by O.P.I (for the base colour), "Rich In Spirit" (for a glittery base colour), and "Positive Energy" (for the snowflakes) both by Nicole by O.P.I.
In the video she used a thin nail brush to create the snowflakes but I just used a thin paint brush and it worked alright but I don't think the paint brush will be usable again.
If you want to try and create this nail look you can watch the video here.

Sorting Through

Isn't it weird how you sometimes buy a $10 bottle of nail polish but only wear it twice. I was sorting through my small collection and realized I have a lot of random colours from a long time ago. They're all Sally Hansen 'cause thats what I bought when I first started using nail polish.

The yellow one goes on really well, the rich purple and sparkley orange apply alright, but the black takes a few coats. For the most part I like Sally Hansen, it's just that they chip and they're hard to take off with nail polish remover. Because they are hard to take off I haven't worn them in awhile, I should really sort through my things more often!

Red And Crackling

I've heard a lot about these crackle nail polishes and today I finally tried them out. My little sister wants to dress up as a vampire for Halloween so she got some crackle nail polish. She was gonna get black but there wasn't any at Shoppers so she just got the red. My sister never normally wears nail polish so after Halloween it's officially mine. I decided to test it out for her before then though and I think it's so cool.

This crackle nail polish is Nicole by O.P.I and is part of their Texture line. It isn't marketed as crackle but it's the same thing. Normally Nicole has really cool names for their colours but this one is just called Red Texture.

First I applied the silver colour Positive Energy and then after it dried I applied the texture coat. It's an easy way to get a great looking nail but you have to remember to put the texture on without overlapping it 'cause then it doesn't work as well.

P.S. I took all these pictures with wet nails and didn't chip them.

Polish At Random

Today I couldn't seem to find anything to post about so I randomly chose 2 polishes that I hadn't posted about yet. Both of these polishes have a great sparkle in them and both work really well. The lavender coloured one is by L'oreal and is in the colour Party Hop. With this polish you have to put on 2 coats if you really want the purple to show but if you just want a nice sparkle you only have to apply 1. The green one is Nicole by O.P.I and it's in the colour Make Mine Lime. The same goes with the coats on this polish. I don't apply this polish often 'cause it's a bit hard to find an outfit that goes with it. So ya, these are my random polishes.

Patriotic Polish

It's Canada day! I know I should be wearing red to be patriotic and all that but I don't like wearing it because the colour is too bold. Instead of wearing a piece of clothing that is red you could opt for a red nail polish. I really like Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri in the colour "Sonic Bloom". The colour in this line go on beautifully but they don't last very long so they're perfect for a one day wear. This is actually one of my only red nail polishes because I'm not that fond of them but I like this one because it's sorta a pinky red.

Hope everyone had a great Canada Day!
